Health

Principle

The underlying principle of our health policy is that everyone should have access to high quality healthcare services, irrespective of a person’s wealth or employment.

With this in mind, it is imperative that the NHS remains free at point of use. Funded adequately via the tax system.

Actuality

Raising the corporate tax rate by 1% would generate an extra £500m, which would be put into the health service.

Beside that, several changes will have a positive effect on the lifestyles and environment. The transport changes would lead not only to a massive upsurge in physical activity and air quality, but also other positive effects, such as an increase in human interaction, resulting in a psychological boost, and safer communities, resulting in a decrease in assault.

Moreover, deviant behaviour will be discouraged due to the increase in the visibility of the public. Additionally, an increase of the tax on sugary drinks and other ‘junk-food’, would lead to reduced pressure on the NHS. After 4 years of this concept in Hungary £63m was raised whilst 73% of people reduced their sugar consumption, two-thirds of these people went on to choose healthier lifestyles.

The cost of medical degrees will be halved in order to not put off people from choosing this profession, this will increase the number of doctors and other medical professionals which in turn will reduce the workload on current medical staff.

Medical Facilities

We will ensure that there is a medical facility, such as a hospital or a clinic within 50 km of all residential areas. This will enable everyone to be within a reasonable reach of care. Aside from this, all residential areas must have a GP.
Every effort will be made to have up-to-date equipment in the medical facilities.

Checks

Advisory campaigns to encourage people to get regular health checks. This would not only save lives but again, also save the NHS significant sums as a result of earlier diagnosis.
